**Position Purpose**



The Automation Technician will administer best practices in insuring the reliability of plant electrical/electronic controls equipment. They will collaborate with team members and be directly involved with the following; installs, performing start-up/commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, documenting and repairing a wide variety of industrial instrumentation devices, electronic monitoring, metering, controlling and signaling devices used in the production of goods and services. They frequently provide input to equipment selection and design. They will obtain records of all programs, electrical prints and update as needed to stay current. The Automation Specialist will be a catalyst in the training and development of maintenance technicians.



**Principal Accountabilities**



50% - Lead and design of automation standards, electrical, and instrumentation work practices to insure continued reliability of plant equipment. Comply with safety/food safety policies, local/federal codes and/or regulations (i.e. National Electric Code, NFPA 70E, OSHA,) and good engineering practices.

25% - Provide technical expertise to site personnel relative to project design/build, training and development as well as support to address issues with existing equipment and processes.

10% - Active and ongoing communication with management, plant floor system team and process and controls centers of excellence, to ensure alignment of strategic direction, collaboration and project development/execution.

10% - Secure and Maintain accurate/current files of PLC logic/code, VFD parameters, electrical drawings and schematics etc.

5% - Travel and research. Stay up to date on Manfacturers upgrades, software, firmware changes etc.



Will require up to 5% travel. Working in plant environment.



**Required Qualifications**



- 5 years experience within electrical, instrumentation and automation disciplines



- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening)



- Demonstrated excellent time management and organizational capabilities



- Ability to travel on occasion



**Preferred Qualifications**



-University or near university degree in Electrical-, Process Control-, Instrumentation-Engineering or equal



-Managing complex projects



-Ability to deal with ambiguity
