**Description**



**Position Purpose:**



The person hired for this Paralegal position will join a fast\-paced global team of other commercial lawyers and paralegals who provide legal counsel related to a variety of commercial legal matters to Cargill businesses\.



The Paralegal will provide legal support to Cargill, Incorporated and its subsidiaries as an in\-house paralegal in Cargill?s global Law Department, as a member of the Commercial Law team\. Accountability for this position will include support of the review, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts; claim evaluation and resolution; review and response of third party subpoenas; and other legal support\. This position requires excellent judgment, including the ability to recognize the business implications of decisions and develop solutions and support the counseling of clients toward those solutions\. This position also requires minimal supervision and the ability to prioritize and manage legal work and department projects while also being agile to respond to exigencies\. Successful candidates will have excellent contracting skills and experience, strong communication skills and a strong orientation toward initiative and collaboration\.

**Principal Acountabilities:**



**50%** \- Support drafting, review and revision of various commercial agreements\. Gather and integrate stakeholder input and regularly participate in negotiations\. Communicate with clients regarding commercial law aspects of transactions and other legal matters\. Develop expertise in Cargill?s various businesses and relevant legal trends\.



**10%** \- Support the review and response to third party subpoenas, including gathering and reviewing information from commercial clients, negotiating scope and deadlines with opposing counsel and assessing Cargill risk\.



**20%** \- Support the review and evaluation of third party claims\. Engage with client to assess, respond and resolve pending claims\. Assist lawyers with client training and education in areas such as antitrust/compeititon law, regulatory compliance, contracting, corporate structuring, as well as assisting Cargill businesses on compliance with various company policies and procedures\.



**15%** \- Coordinate and collaborate with other members of the Cargill Law Department, functional team members, clients and opposing parties and their conunsel on various aspects of commercial law issues\.



**5%** \- Miscellaneous projects/duties as assigned

**Qualifications**



**Minimum Required**





* Bachelor?s Degree AND one of the following is also required: Paralegal certificate or comparable legal education from accredited legal institution; OR at least 3 years paralegal experience handling legal matters and the willingness to obtain a paralegal certificate within the first 2 years of employment\.





* 3 years paralegal experience





* Working experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
