**Description**



Cargill engages in merchandising and trading activities to enhance, protect, and deliver incremental value within its expansive scope of businesses\. A fully integrated approach to analyzing supply and demand along with extracting unique insights through customer intimacy have led to a durable track record of positive returns to the enterprises\.



GEOS is a growing business group within the Food Ingredient Bio\-Industrial Enterprise of Cargill and has aspirations to increase trading revenues through several core focus areas\. One of these core focus areas is within the global special oils space where growth rates and returns have been attractive\. The Groundnut Oil product line is a specialty oil of particular interest given meaningful success in GEOS? existing portfolio mix\. Applying a multi\-faceted development approach is critical to realizing the revenue potential in this key segment\. In addition to Groundnut Oil, we identify other specialty liquid product lines with promise for the foreseeable future\. This position has the potential to seize upon those opportunities as well\.



A pivotal link to achieving the growth potential in specialty oils product lines is leveraging the insights of a high quality supply and demand analysis\. In the global specialty oils space, this is lacking or insufficient at the current moment\. One of the primary initiatives of this role would be to develop, update, and publish an accurate supply and demand model which allows GEOS to position for global specialty oil opportunities\.



The China geography presents the most critical geography to unlocking the global supply chain flow for GEOS? groundnut oil flow\. While Cargill CASC has an existing infrastructure of assets and commercial operations, GEOS will be building this from the ground up through collaboration within the Cargill network and the incorporation of key components of the value chain such as customer intimacy, storage and blending capabilities, origination activities, and partnerships with key suppliers\. This role requires a self\-starting, entrepreneurial\-minded individual eager to deliver measurable results\.



The successful candidate must have and deploy a comprehensive and versatile set of hard and soft skills to open new doors, lean into challenging and uncertain situations, and be creative in solving problems to unlock the value potential of the global specialty oil opportunities GEOS foresees\.



**Principal Accountabilities**



40% Trade and merchandise global specialty oils\- principally Groundnut Oil \(GNO\) flows from origin to destination\. This consists of full supply chain accountability and trade execution from purchase with origin supplier and sale with destination customer\. Core components include:





* Liaising with appropriate regional traders and commercial team members to coordinate purchase/sale execution and provide economic guidance for negotiation of contracts





* In conjunction with Cargill Ocean Transportation, facilitate and execute upon vessel freight fixtures associated with origin purchases\. Maintain full communication with relevant parties from loading to discharge to ensure flawless execution





* Oversee and optimize various inventories and pipelines of specialty oils at origin and destination\. This encompasses volumes, duration, quality segregations, and blending\. Oversight and ownership of accurate inventory accounting will be expected\.



30% Develop, build, and maintain a global specialty oils supply and demand forecast\- initially with GNO and subsequently build to other specialty oils such as cottonseed oil and animal fats\. Coordinate with GTA to aggregate and reconcile available supply, demand, and inventory data to maintain and publish to Macbeth on a monthly basis\.





* Identify reliable source data and aggregate peripheral market inputs to drive sound analysis that highlights key trends, surpluses, deficits, and associated trading opportunities\.





* Build and maintain import/export parity and value chain margin updates





* Summarize 3rd party analysis which my highlight the market outlook for other trade participants



20% Promote and support growth and development of expansion in global GNO value chain through volumes, margin enhancements, new value streams, new geographies and new customers\. Leverage unique insights to recommend features which enhance Cargill's value to customers and suppliers\.



10% Drive market discovery and associated project work for new specialty liquid oil opportunities which as identified by business opportunity or trade flow inquiries\. Establish role as subject matter expert in global specialty liquid oil industry trends\.



**Qualifications**



**Required qualifications**





* Bachelor's degree or will have completed a Bachelor's degree by May/June 2020





* 1 year professional experience or relevant internships in the industry are suitable\.





* Sound technical skills and high proficiency in manipulating data from software systems for statistical analysis\.





* Strong numerical skills and understanding of quantitative relationships





* Strong communication and presentation skills





* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office





* Fluency in English



**Preferred qualification**





* Master?s Degree with an emphasis in Entreprenuership; Finance, Business Analytics; Data Science; mathematics\. Other masters degrees will be considered, but a proven interest or trackrecord/achievement in supply/demand modeling and/or business development is preferred\.





* Business Fluency in Mandarin Chinese \(speaking and writing\)





* Trading and/or commercial experience and/or having had exposure in a commercial environment





* Professional project work in financial markets, commodity markets, statistics/mathematics, forecasting, economic modeling\.
