**Description**



Position Purpose and Summary



The Land Resources Specialist is responsible for assisting the Land Resources Manager in managing Cargill Salt land resources in the San Francisco Bay area\. Responsibilities include evaluating and managing complex land use and land conservation issues and projects on both operational and non\-operational lands; supporting the maintenance of compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations; enhancing environmental stewardship and conservation values on Cargill?s land resources; participating and representing Cargill in local and regional planning and permitting initiatives and forums, and developing and maintaining positive relationships with operational personnel, and representatives of public agencies and other interested stakeholders\.



Principal Accountabilities





* 35%: Would be responsible for managing complex land use, land conservation, and regulatory compliance issues and projects on both operational and non\-operational lands; enhancing and promoting environmental stewardship, conservation values, and monetization of Cargill?s lands; participating and representing Cargill in local and regional planning and regulatory initiatives and forums; developing positive working relationships with staff\-level representatives of regulatory agencies and other interested stakeholders; and influencing decisions and actions of stakeholders affecting Cargill?s interests\.





* 35%: Would prepare technical memos, fact sheets, recommendations, and other materials involving operational issues, regulatory issues, and land conservation and stewardship; perform research and evaluation of technical and policy issues related to land use, land management, and land conservation; participate in local and regional planning and permitting initiatives and forums at the staff level, and engage a wide variety of stakeholders, including regulatory staff, and environmental organizations at workshops, meetings, and site tours\.





* 20%: Research and evaluation of technical and policy issues related to land use, land management, and land conservation



10%: Participation in local and regional planning and permitting initiatives and forums, and engagement with a wide variety of stakeholders, including regulatory personnel, elected officials, environmental organizations, and the general public



**Qualifications**



Required Qualifications



Bachelor?s degree in environmental science, environmental studies, earth sciences or other relevant related field\.

Minimum of 5 years combined experience in: land use planning, environmental permitting, and land conservation

Working knowledge of land use planning, policies, and conservation pertaining to operational properties

Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental and land use laws, regulations, and policies

Knowledge and experience in project management methods and tools, including the development and implementation of project schedules and processes, and management of multiple deliverables

Ability to analyze complex issues, develop logical solutions, prepare and articulate legally sound and technically defensible written communications, and negotiate favorable outcomes on complex issues

Ability to listen to differing viewpoints and to interface and communicate in a professional and persuasive manner

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities

Strong attention to detail

Skilled in use of Microsoft Suite and Adobe

Ability to work on a multidisciplinary team in a fast\-paced setting

Ability to work independently

Demonstrated strong problem\-solving and analytical skills

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Ability to travel as needed



Preferred Qualifications



Experience in public outreach, public speaking and community engagement

Experience and familiarity with title reports and real estate transactions involving conservation properties

Experience developing innovative and creative solutions to complex technical and legal issues involving land and conservation
